Xola Consultant Jessica Reilly Supports Endangered Species Research in the Mojave Desert

September 5, 2009 Xola’s Jessica Reilly is supporting desert tortoise research in the Mojave desert ecosystem throughout the fall.  This long-term project seeks to determine the effects of the translocation of tortoises from expansion areas of the Ft. Irwin Army Base north of Barstow, CA.  Jess is tracking and monitoring individual tortoises fitted with radio transmitters from both the translocated and local populations. September 25, 2009 Off the Radar editor Natasha Martin represented the Adventure Travel Trade Association September 10-12 at the Service Summit in Guatemala.  The government is seeking to promote sustainable tourism as one of five service sectors.  Natasha met with tourism providers to develop an understanding of the tourism landscape in Guatemala, then traveled to Tikal and Chilasco, the highest waterfall in Central America, to witness community-based tourism. Kenyan-based Wrestling the World Receives IMF Grant

We were thrilled to learn former Xola client  Wrestling the World, recently received a $10,000 IMF grant to support its work in Kenya.  Led by Phill Klamm, Wrestling the World is in located in Barut, Kenya.  Its International Village operates as a volunteer tourism hub for travelers and a permanent educational and job-training center for Barut residents.
