Exhibit of Travel Photography by Adam Vaught opens in Mill Valley, CA

Off the Radar photographer Adam Vaught has an advantage over many in his field – in addition to photography, Adam also works as a consultant in adventure tourism development (with Xola Consulting, Inc.) and as a cycling guide for the up-market adventure tour operator, Backroads.  His travels for work, as well as pleasure, have offered him many chances over the years to develop an exotic portfolio of portraits – pictures of people in some of the most unusual places on earth.  In his first showing,  Portraits Across Three Continents (opens Tuesday, July 7th 2009 at 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, CA), Adam debuts some of his most gripping images.  The exhibit features portraits of people Adam has encountered on his travels to over fifty countries.

Adam Vaught was born and raised in Orange County, California and began exploring the world at age 19.  Throughout his twenties, Adam has worked in the fields of development and tourism using California, Japan, and Cambodia as his base. His images capture cross-cultural communications, as he says: “Rather than allowing my camera to be a barrier between myself and the people I encounter, I use it as a means to communicate. Anyone can shove a camera in someone’s face and bring home unique photographs, but at what cost?  I’ve always tried to share my curiosity with my subjects, and discovered that honest interaction, exchange, and genuine interest in your subject always leads to the most striking photography.”

142 Throckmorton Theatre is founded on the philosophy that theatre, music, dance, film, poetry, visual and related arts are essential components of a rich and rewarding life, and an indispensable part of human inspiration and education.  The theatre features one artist each month.

The theater is located at 142 Throckmorton Ave. Mill Valley CA 94941.  Their  telephone number is: 415-383-9600.

The exhibit opens July 7th and remains open until August 2nd.
