Surfing in Lobitos

WAVES for Development, a new not-for-profit association based in Peru has the admirable mission of making the world a better place through surfing.  Join WAVES to surf and serve local youth by teaching English through art, or about the environment while surfing.

With over 40 members in 8 countries, WAVES (Water, Adventure, Voluntourism, Education and Sustainability) is establishing affiliates in the US and Switzerland to fund the expansion of its programs across Peru.  February 17th through March 1st marks the pilot of its Educational Surf and Adventure Voluntourism Programs in the rural coastal community of Lobitos.

Working with local schools, the Peruvian Sport Institute and the Peruvian Surfing Federation, WAVES aims to grow programs along the entire coast of Peru using a generous donation of 400 surfboards from Global Surf Industries. Look for more volunteer opportunities over the summer.
